Disco Pants & Denim

I'm a pair of legwarmers and a Spandau Ballet record away from actually being in the '80s here. It's not a fashion era I ever thought I'd be into but apparently I'm all over the bomber jackets and acid wash denim.

I feel like I should address the socks. Now I know socks showing from under trousers is the ultimate in cool... if you're a geography teacher that is but every time I look at these leopard print babies I feel like they need more show time. I have to admit, the sock thing does remind me of a Sex & the City Carrie Bradshaw moment where she's wearing knee high plaid socks with a flat cap... but hey, I felt like it on the day and I went with it. That's what fashion is all about, right?

I also feel the need to admit that I did not wear this outfit on one of our recent heatwave days. I'm not an idiot, I've seen the Friends episode with Ross' leather pants and I get the distinct feeling, American Apparel disco pants will work in the exact same way.

Neon & Acid Wash Denim

I just happened to be strolling along under the trees, in the sunlight. You know how it is. Does anybody else feel like a damn fool posing for blog photos? Especially when the dog walkers are doing the rounds and their very fluffy dog stops to have a butchers.

This is my second foray into the neon trend. I spotted this skater skirt in H&M while I was shopping this weekend and it was one of those 'don't have time to try it on, I'm gonna make a leap of faith' and you know what? I'm glad I leaped. I've got nothing else like it and I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can clash it with.

The acid wash denim shirt and silky bomber jacket are both weekend buys too. I loved the tone of the shirt and it's interesting because it has a sheer panel at the back. The bomber jacket was my bargain buy reduced to £7! I bought it many sizes too big in order for it to be slouchy, although I think I could probably have scaled it down a bit from a size 20. I was just too excited and picked up the first one I found.

Frankie Says Relax

Say hello to my new Frankie Says Relax tee. I got it on ebay here and hacked off the sleeves, collar and some of the length to make it fit a little better. I'm not one of those people to buy band t-shirts just because they look cool, I just think that's stupid. Frankie Goes To Hollywood aren't my favourite band or anything but I can comfortably say Relax is a T-une and I like a bit of Two Tribes, therefore equalling the right to wear the tee.

I decided to go for quite an 80's look all round here, minus massive hair. I've been looking for THE denim shirt for my wardrobe and I found this one at H&M. I picked up one a few sizes too big because I wanted it to be oversized (and actually it was the only one there). The first time I wore this shirt out I had a very close call involving a donkey and its belief that denim is, in fact, grass. I'm giving that donkey the benefit of the doubt because if he did know my shirt was not grass there could very easily be a GBH claim to be made.

My shorts are a kind of light pinstripe denim which is a material I love and they're also high waisted which I'm all over right now.

Oh and please excuse my orange face, it would seem the lighting wasn't great that day. I don't really look like human Fanta.
