Land Girl

Sometimes I like to go all out vintage, just for the hell of it. I'm not particularly fussed on being a die-hard vintage fashion girl but sometimes, it's nice to keep everything in your look retro.

This is one of those such very looks, it's what I call 'land girl' although I'm not entirely sure if jeans had hit the big time in the '40's (after a quick Wikipedia, it turns out jeans became popular in the 1950's. Fun fact.) Vintage looks usually come about when my hair needs washing, i.e. I twizzle it up into some kind of up-do like this and then build my outfit around it. Red lipstick just cements the war-time chic look.

I found the shirt in a charity shop and on adding it to my wardrobe I noticed I have a thing for blue shirts. Actually blue through to light blue to white... must try harder on the coloured shirt front.

School Uniform

To be honest, I wish my school uniform had been like this. Vintage pinafores are still loving life in fashion land. I'm still debating getting a denim one, I like how they look but I guess I just haven't found "the one".

Back to my 'school uniform', this actually was the colour of my primary school uniform. Light blue shirt and dark navy jumper. Ah those were the days, playing hopscotch and sword fighting with maths equipment on 'wet lunchtimes'. How did they get away with a phrase like that?!

I absolutely LOVE this shirt. Back in April when I was in Spain we took a day trip to Marbella. The only preconceptions I had of Marbella is that the TOWIE lot love it and therefore it must be pretty chav-tastic but it was actually a lovely little town. Going in April meant that it was pretty quiet so it may well be a different story in the summer but we liked it. Anyhow, while there I spotted a vintage and secondhand shop called Utopia run by an English girl called Katie. The shirt jumped out at me straight away but I wasn't supposed to be shopping so I left. I then realised what a terrible mistake I had made and came back to find it closed for siesta! I wasn't going to be beaten by a Spanish nap so I waited around and finally, it was mine.

That story is all yours for free.

Dinner Dance

Last weekend James' work held their annual dinner dance. With some last minute outfit buying under our (James') belt we trundled off down the M5 until we reached the Imperial Hotel in Torquay. After arriving and assessing what freebies could be nabbed we headed to the bar to watch the six nations.

The view from the hotel's lounge was quite something to behold. Imagine more of a 180 view like this, all you could see was sea.

We spruced ourselves up and headed downstairs with eager tummies. A well stocked table spelt our downfall for the next morning but our winning moves on the dancefloor.

The food was nothing really to write home about unfortunately but by profiteroles o'clock all I could taste was Zinfandel anyway.

Definitely not sneaking off with the complimentary wine... It would go to waste otherwise!

I wore this LBD I found on sale at ASOS last summer. I should have got a picture from the back because it has really nice back detail. The gold metal belt is also ASOS, bag is from Accessorize and the heels are Primark. A triumph of an outfit as far as bargains are concerned, I don't think it adds up to any more than £80.

After falling in love with Emma Stone in Gangster Squad, I went with vintage hair and make up. Lipstick is Stiletto by Sleek which I'm nearly out of, couldn't recommend it enough.
