Grey Boyfriend Coat

It's true, I'm in love with a coat. This was the coat I spent all last winter looking for. I also found it in pink so obviously bought that too, you can't not really when they're £25 each(!) The only problem is, we've been having some seriously mild weather, so I haven't really had to commit to coats properly yet, I'm quite looking forward to it.

This skirt is one of my faves but it really is hard to walk in, I have to literally Bridget Jones it when I go up stairs or even the slight step up on a pavement curb. For some reason I find myself always teaming this skirt with navy tops but actually I really like the navy and grey together, maybe I'll finally stop wearing monochrome and switch things up to blue and grey... push the boat out!

Necklaces being my favourite accessories, I was really happy to spot this rather unusual design when I was in Athens. It's handmade and completely unique and for some reason, makes me think of space...

Wow, check my ultimate sad face! Taking blog pictures when you have a sad neutral face is no easy task, let me tell you. Also, I am not currently wearing Birkenstock's, I predictably took these back when socks weren't a necessity.

I'm still enjoying my home made ripped jeans which is lucky because I've ordered about fourteen hundred pairs from ASOS and not a single one fit my Beyonce thighs (Beyonce, LOL).

I've recently re-discovered my love of layering thanks to it not being summer any more and I'm particularly enjoying that concept with cropped tees. I get a bit fed up of having to wear high waisted stuff with cropped tops, so it's a nice change to just stick something longer on underneath.

I love autumn dressing but I hate this in between weather where as soon as you've been walking anywhere for five minutes you've got to lose a layer. First world problems, as the youths would say.

Palm Print

Taken shortly after getting back from a sailing trip in Greece, hence my tan and optimistic clothing. That's the problem with going away in September, you get all brown and then come home and have to wear knitted trousers and so on. Not that I'm complaining about going on holiday, it was bladdy marvellous!

I bought this palm print skirt way back before the summer in Primark and what a buy it was! I think it set me back about £8 or something, which is ideal for a statement skirt that you may get bored of. Saying that, I'm still not bored of it but styling it for autumn and winter may be a bit of a challenge.

I swear the oversized t-shirt is the only top I feature on here. I can't help it, it's just so versatile, one of my best ASOS buys.

Ripped Jeans & Birkenstocks

It has been mega long since I blogged because back in July I was burgled and my laptop was stolen, woo! All my pictures from the last couple of years were on there and, like an idiot, I had never gotten round to backing them up on Dropbox (do it, people!) As you can imagine I was pretty gutted and it meant finding the money for a replacement laptop as well, hence the huge blogging gap. Anyway, I am back now so you can call of the search, heh heh.

Despite not having blogged in two months, I'm still heavily into monochrome style, particularly when it involves ripped jeans. I bought about a thousand pairs of ripped jeans from ASOS but couldn't find any that fit right, so I decided to rip some old Primark skinnies instead. You know how it is, skinny jeans from Primark gradually get a little loose, especially round the knees so it just made good sense.

I've also jumped on the Birkenstock bandwagon in the last month. I was sold on the comfort-factor everyone bangs on about as I'm off to Greece in a couple of weeks and wanted a pair of sandals that won't leave my feet hurting. They are pretty ugly and I have to be careful what I wear them with to avoid looking like a German granny but overall, I'm pleased with them.

How to Style Neon

This monochrome and neutrals thing has really taken me by surprise lately. It seems to be my go-to palette on a daily basis but at the same time, I am still drawn to strong colours and statement pieces. So let me introduce you to this fluoro skirt I discovered in River Island.

It's a pretty bright neon orange, not quite as radioactive as it photographs but definitely neon. I have a neon green skirt too, so maybe I'm starting a collection. The fit of this skirt is great and I like how it works with tights and a jumper but will also be perfect with a white cami top for when the sun is out.

I keep buying myself holiday clothes at the moment, despite the fact I'm not going away until September, so I'm hoping for the British summertime to kick in any time soon. I swear when I was a kid it was hot all summer long...

Jumper Dress

This recent hot weather is making me look like a mug with my backlog of outfit photos from a fresher time. Still, I've got a lot of love for this jumper dress. It's really simple but has this nice quilted arm detail which makes it a little more unique. Going back to the weather issues, I've realised that there is about a five week window between coat weather and no coat weather, which means my lighter jacket collection barely gets a look in. Poor buggers.

This hairstyle is one of my new faves. I used to do it on just one side and then realised it's, like, a million times better doubled up. A plaited updo like this is ideal for hot weather - sweaty neck no more! Plus it's super easy and works well on long hair (long hair ain't always easy to style y'know.)

P.S. If you noticed my alien hand in the first picture, I'm really sorry. I don't know what it is playing at and I can see how genuinely troubling and frightening that could be to an onlooker. So, again, my apologies.

Revived my camo jacket of 2012 for this outfit - I don't believe in banishing items to the back of the wardrobe from season to season and weirdly, I find this jacket really versatile.

Still absolutely loving the leather joggers, they're such a nice change from jeans. I was worried they'd be a bit stifling in warmer weather but I haven't noticed any problems yet - phew!

Office Smart

It's a rarity for me to wear smart clothes, despite the fact I do work in an office. I'm still quite unsure about a full on smart look, unless we're talking an androgynous suit or something. Usually I like to throw in the odd smart item to take my usual casual style out of sloppy territory.

As you can see, I'm still stuck in the monochrome trap in one way or another - it's just such a great palette! I don't know why it took me so long to realise that black and white is just a dream to work with*!
