Mini Skirt, Maxi Skirt

I know I keep banging on about the weather but it changed so quickly, it caught me off guard. These were also taken back when it didn't feel quite so Autumnal.

Basic cropped tees and tops were a new addition to my wardrobe this year and they were perfect for wearing with high waisted skirts. I like how you can so easily get two completely different looks with a simple white tee and a change of skirt (which may have happened on the roadside). The cropped tees are definitely going to continue appearing throughout AW, I'm not sure how yet but I feel there will be layering involved...

I am quite sad to be confining my neon green skirt to the summer wardrobe but I'm just not sure neon translates to autumn fashion. What do you think?

Last Days of Summer

Ah yes, remember when it was warm and we could wear sandals without getting wet toesies?

These photos were only taken a week or two ago and I have a feeling these were the last days of summer. I know we're well into September but I like to hold onto warm weather for as long as possible and I'm still holding out hope for an Indian summer. I think it's because we're off to Turkey for a few days next week so as yet, I still have a barrier between the end of the summer and Christmas. Once I'm back I promise I'll get all nostalgic for bonfire night and jumpers.

No really. I will.

This dress top thing was hanging up in my 'to eBay' pile for ages and then I had a change of heart and rescued it. I'm thinking it's actually quite a staple piece, yah.

Again, my new beloved Clubmaster Ray-ban's make an appearance. To be honest, I don't think they'll be going anywhere, they're too frickin' awesome.

The White Summer Dress

Until this year I didn't have a simple white summer dress. I know, right? Unacceptable. Luckily New Look sorted me right out with this super fresh white skater dress.

My favourite thing about this dress is that, close up, it has a floral cut out pattern and it's really light and airy for days like today when it's 30 degrees (the hottest August day since 2003 no less.)

I'm not big on adding much to my outfit when it's this hot but I managed to keep my sandals on all day and just about coped with the Aztec necklace. The sunglasses are my newest thing from ASOS and I ruddy love them. I have a shed load of wayfarer sunglasses, so the shape of these is very different.

Leather in Summer

We've had so much amazing weather lately, I came to a point where I just didn't know what summer dress to turn to next. It's also a bit of a shock to the system being wrenched away from my winter colour palette so instead of going bright I built a simple muted outfit around my trusty pleather skirt.

I have to fight with myself not to clash colours and instead choose neutral tones but I think I found the right balance with a little bit of pink lipstick and the grey blue sunnies.

Are you enjoying dressing in bright colours or do you keep wearing your winter clothes?

A Royal Baby Is Born

It's my new dress! Don't you just love it?!

So I spotted this dress in H&M at the weekend (this and it's all black sister, yes I bought both) and on trying it on knew it had to be mine. It's only like, the perfect cut on me. The halter neckline is so flattering and what with my upcoming trip to New York, buying pretty summer dresses is totally legitimate.

I went with this Swedish-esque plaited hairstyle to show off the detail of the dress and chose fairly subtle accessories. I think the green ring and red lipstick gives a nice bit of colour and I can always find a reason to wear my mirrored sunglasses.

In other news, the royal baby was born today (well, technically yesterday, since I'm late night blogging past midnight)! I'm not really royalist as such but I seemingly get quite excited for such events. I mean, it is history in the making, despite the fact people have babies every day yada yada yada.

So anyway, congratulations Kate and Wills!

The Simple Sundress

I spotted this sundress in the H&M magazine a while back and like a lot of the things I spot in magazines decided I should snap it up and then promptly forgot about it.

Then I discovered it in store and remembered the love. Ahh fickle fashion.

I wasn't expecting to be able to wear it so soon, then this bank holiday arrived and the sun with its hat firmly on. When it's as hot as it has been for the past few days, I can only think about summer dresses and sandals. My summer fashion is pretty old school but I made this look a little more modern with the neon accent sandals.

The Maxi Dress

Do you remember when it was so hot, for a minute we thought we were living on holiday? This was then. I think I've only actually got three maxi dresses and that's not because I don't like them. Once I found the perfect black maxi dress, I just sort of didn't need any more.

This maxi dress is so flattering and such an easy thing to thrown on and be ready to go. It also works for virtually all seasons (just wait for my AW looks!) I really love the plaited detail neckline which goes around to the back.

I love boho style for the Summer, Vanessa Hudgens kind of thang. All I needed to make this boho was my jewellery. I have a real weakness for turquoise and gold jewellery and I think it looks gorgeous with a tan. I piled on some more necklaces and added a bracelett that fits more like a cuff.

Team GB

This is my homage to the Olympics that we are oh so proudly holding in London currently. Note the Team GB colours. I probably should have gone for a red bag to really pack that St George punch but I am lacking on the red bag front. Note also that I am fully going for gold.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Olympics. Team GB are doing astonishingly well and as cheesy as it sounds, it really is hugely inspiring. It's certainly helped me when it's come to gym time.

The day I wore this it was incredibly hot. Yet again, I have a back-log of pictures that I need to get up here, so some of these outfits won't be matching the weather, which is, unsurprisingly, rain. Again. In August. Sigh.

Festival Fashion: Budget vs. Blowout

My total outfit cost: About £60 vs. Amy's total outfit cost: About £280

Festival season is truly upon us and finally the weather has followed suit. This is my little sister, Amy. Unlike her wise, older sister, Amy is partial to a pricy item or two and really doesn't bargain hunt quite like me. So we thought it would be a good idea to do some blog posts featuring similar looks, one that's cheap and the other more expensive.

Annoyingly, I didn't put a lot of thought into my festival outfit and far prefer Amy's outfit, thus defying my point a little bit. However, you can still see the basic similarities and idea that you can get the same look for less.

Then we found this little guy!

It was such a nice day we stayed in the park until the shade arrived.
